“So, who’s going to die today?” Nate asked.

“Now’s not the time to joke Nate.” Sophia said.

“What? Loads have people have almost died, surely it’s time for someone to actually die.” Nate said.

“Yeah well the last one could have been Amelie so careful what you say.” Sophia said. Nate’s face dropped.

“They wouldn’t have killed her.” He said.

“They would have if we hadn’t stopped them.” Sophia said, “Well done by the way, you almost killed Tom.” She said sarcastically.

“You don’t want him dead? He tortured Amelie.” Nate said.

“Of course I want him dead. But, we need him alive.” Sophia said.

“What are you talking about?” Amelie asked waking into the room.

“Just stuff.” Nate said. Sophia watched Amelie get into her bed. She didn’t think Amelie understood the severity of everything that was going on. That made sense though, she was only seven. This was not something a seven year old should ever have to go through.
