The Favourite
The more they talked, the more it all seemed to be more and more real. That was that. My parents had died in a car accident.
Anne (my sister) wasn’t any less nervous than I was. They were reading my parents will.
I knew I’d get all the money, I mean I was the favourite. In our house Anne was barely noticed.
Not that I was happy they were dead, but the money was gonna be awesome!
“And the money will go to…”
I smirked at Anne.
“Anne.”
My heart dropped. That… couldn’t be true.
“Anne, since you are 18, you can legally adopt Katherine.”
Could this get any worse? I was the favourite, where was my money? Anne didn’t even glance at me.
“But that money is supposed to be mine!” I protested.
“I’m sorry miss but here it says Anne gets all the money because she is legally an adult and can take care of you.”
My vision was blurry. Anne gives me a sympathetic look. I don’t want her sympathy. I was in tears. I quickly got up and sprinted out of there. I got nothing.
Anne ram after me.
“Kathy!” She yelled. I stopped and turned around.
“What do you want?” I yelled back.
“You know money’s not all that matters.” She said.
“I HATE YOU!” I screamed. Everyone around us turned to look.
“That money was mine. I was supposed to get it, but no, because of you!” I broke down again. I would never go back to that house with Anne. I ran and didn’t stop for a while.
