The Potion
I stood on a cliff watching the sunset. I was sick of this. Sick of all of the memories, nightmares, feelings.
This potion would fix it all.
It would make me forget, be free. A certain amount will make me forget a year. I could still remember Percy, but not remember the pain. I tipped the flask up to my mouth.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Strong arms wrapped around my waist, and a familiar voice spoke smoothly and calmly. Gently.
“Forgetting things.” I said. “Please, Percy, just let me.” I begged.
“Anna, I don’t want you to forget anything. I’ll help you cope, there are better solutions.”
I just shrugged.
“Who gave you this, and how long has this been going on?”
“Sabrina gave it to me. It was eight months ago.” I whispered.
“Why did you want this?” He asked.
“Percy- no one wants me. I wanted to forget that pain. No one would notice anything different. Maralynn, Peggy, Matthew, Michael, Dad.” I stopped and thought for a moment. “You.”
He shook his head and tears filled his large, gorgeous eyes.
“It didn’t help that my best friend whom I love, loves someone else.”
“And here I am thinking I’m your best friend.” He chuckled.
“God, how oblivious are you?” I muttered.
Suddenly his face paled, and he looked shocked. I knew now that he knew what I was saying.
“You love me?” He croaked.
“No. I’m in love with you.” I said, and I took a sip.
