Defines You

Ivory walls and sterile scented air were things you never cared for,

But lying there,

You couldn’t care

As the world had gone black around you.

For you and I

Time flew by

And now I sit beside you

Your skin is pale

It isn’t fair that this will now define you

Your embrace was one I could no longer have

As I sat beside you

Hand in hand,

But you can’t feel mine,

Can you?

You wouldn’t flinch,

Nor move an inch

Now this is what defines you

Sitting next to your lifeless form,

Wailing,

Waiting,

Time had never passed so slowly
