Lonely Up There

Do you think the sun gets lonely up there?

Atop his thrown above the clouds

Looking down on the people where

His shadow cannot be found?

Bringer of light and warmth and day

He moves across the skies alone

Sharing himself along the way

Searching for a place called home.

Do you think the moon gets jealous at night?

Surrounded by the countless stars

Who do not beg nor borrow light

From a foreign source so far?

Heralding shrouds of cold and dark

She wanders through the empty space

Luminated face, pale and stark,

Spending time in waning grace.

Do you think the stars might envy their dance?

Settled as close as they could dare

With front row views of their waltz entranced

Jealous of that something shared.

Witness of celestial embrace

When light moves to hold dark in love

Sending warmth to shine on her face

His home in the sky above.

Do you think the sun gets lonely up there?

Lover shining with borrowed light

Stars settled in the heavens where

They observe his listless plight.

I think the sun might be lonely up there...
