POEM STARTER
Write a poem titled ‘Over The Hill’.
Is the title literal or a metaphor? See where this title can take you.
Over The Hill
I always wondered what was here on the other side
But seeing you now makes it’s all come together
The great divide was never me
It was never us
You know who
So hearing these words again can’t come as a shock
I know who you’re really talking to
The biggest disappointment you’ve known is staring back at you with fresh eyes and a rosy flush
But all you can see is yourself in her little brown eyes
Everything you’ve ever hated about your liver your gut your spleen and your heart
She’s looking into your body and absorbing all you’ve ever known within
She knows
You know
But you keep reminding her
She wishes she never went over the hill
Because that’s where he resides
And that is where she begins
