Breaths & silences.

In through your nose and down

your pharynx,

pulled rapidly

into alveoli air sacs,

pressed up against the wall

like a lonesome

schoolgirl dreaming,

picked up by your beating heart,

through the leftside of your love,

through arteries, through limbs,

through tiny threads,

squeezed dry, then tasked again.

loaded up with the unwanted,

sent through veins,

hurtling onward,

hurtling back

into the home I’ve made

your heart.

Into alveoli air sacs again,

up through your larynx again,

touching tongue

touching teeth

touching lips—

you launched me forward in your

exhale.

Nothing but air.

you don’t say a word

but you fill up

the room.
