Leaving

Write about a character leaving something, or someone, they love.

See You

No one can ever prepare you for the wave of emotions that come from saying goodbye. They wipe you out and drag you along the rough grains of sand back into the deepest ends. There is a bittersweet finality that comes with the word. It doesn’t get easier no matter how often you say it. It doesn’t matter if its a loved one, your favorite restaurant, or the life you had before, the finality will leave you longing for what you had. Those times spent together will shine brightly in my memory as I process your absence and gradually dim, but never fade away, with time. There’s no comfort anyone but you can provide to fill the gap you’ve left so I will learn how to live and love again, building a bridge with the ones still here, creating something new. Goodbye may be final but it is never the end. It opens up a new path to something different but we will never be certain of the destination. Time will pass and we’ll be fine. Because it always does and we always are.

Goodbye. I love you.
