Martin walked haggardly through the deserted streets.

For his ill wife, he would brave the dangerous Old Town.

She had begged him not to go that evening. Even though she was dying.

Refusing to give in, his wife had asked him why he wouldn’t stay safe and just let her die peacefully.

With tears in his eyes and a pained expression, Martin had brazenly answered her.

‘Because you’re my everything.’

Then, he left the bedroom before his wife could snap out of her stunned silence.

He had gathered his resolve. Even if he were to die or be cruelly tortured to disability like those living in Old Town.

This country covered up everything that was dark and made everything seem unbelievably peaceful on the surface. And that was why the cure to his wife’s illness could not be obtained through legal channels. Just like with his sister, the hospital would just murder her and mask it as a natural death.

Martin would have to try his luck in the abandoned Old Town that was rumoured to host a dangerous anti-government organization.

It was almost midnight.

If he couldn’t get help for his wife under watchful eyes in the daytime, he would brave the darkness in search of the anonymity it offers.

Martin had no regrets if he died along with his wife.

He prayed for a chance to save her.
