Write a poem that centres around the motif of butterflies.

Different species of butterflies can be symbolic of different concepts, and their behaviours and lifecycles can reflect or inspire human emotions.

The Butterfly Girls

They swirled as we twirled, they fluttered and turned as we giggled and laughed. Finally, I was happy, happier than I ever had been before. I looked at my true loves face, and my smile broadened when I saw her joyful face. My heart warmed, as she grabbed me arm and spun me around. The butterfly’s were not scared, and neither were we. They fluttered over the empty meadow, covered in flowers. Her and me lay down on the grass, fingers intertwined. We looked at each other, that’s when they landed all around us, they looked like a dream. We looked like a dream. A dream. A dream. It felt like a dream. We were living a dream.

This was a very good poem, one with a clear rhythm throughout. I enjoyed the echo at the end, as it eluded to a dreamy state:

‘We looked like a dream. // A dream.// A dream.// It felt like a dream. // We were living a dream.’

My only suggestion, and this is minor is instead of saying ‘Me and her lay down on the grass, fingers intertwined.’ It might be better to say ‘Her and me lay down on the grass, fingers intertwined.’

‘I’ is used when the pronoun is the subject of the sentence and ‘me’ is used when the pronoun is the object. If I recall correctly anyway.
