WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a love letter to something in nature.

Affection directed towards nature is a frequent theme in poetry, so now try making it much more literal! The letter doesn't have to be written as a poem, but you could use poetic devices to make it feel more romantic.

Oh, Sweet Earth.

Dirt and grass bury my feet,

The sights and sounds are so sweet,

Life flutters, the birds and bees,

When distant, I am still pleased.

The sky so blue with a big, shining star,

A bird’s song rings out, both near and far,

Flowers to misunderstood weeds,

Arise, grow in cracks of concrete.

We swat at bugs, but their our friends,

On your skin we live with no ends,

We receive, and I give you love,

Gratitude that reaches above.

Air and water help me thrive,

A sphere with mechanics inside,

An abode for those who sprout,

An apartment with none left out.

Natural, even when the hands,

Of humans modify the lands,

With buildings and trash, you still glow,

Brighter than any star I know.

Oh, sweet earth- you deserve all care,

My love for you will always stare,

Into the vast eyes of your world-

Thank you for being my home, world.

(I know I wrote this late in the day, but happy earth day!)
