Silence is the absence of sound, as white is the absence of color. Like a blank white canvas to a vibrant and exotic image, silence is the backdrop for the colorful noises that fill our ears in each moment. Just like an unpainted easel, silence is boring. It has no texture, no flavor, and no charisma. Because of this, no human has ever sought to achieve true silence. Everytime silence reveals itself, a sane person will panic, and latch onto the first artifact it can find: a gust of wind rustling the leaves down the street, the mysterious ambient noise of the building, or a muffled conversation between strangers far away. The minds biggest fear is boredom, and silence is the most boring thing imaginable.
