After a year or more of darkness that has been slowly spreading across the forest to the north of his village, Zervik is tasked with finding both a reason and a solution for the sudden changes his people have seen. He, and a small group of Skyen (community members with magical gifts) set out to find help. Zervik is challenged along the way and finds numerous unexpected encounters as he starts his journey West, to find the oldest and strangest community of magical people known in the realm. Zervik's community knows of his magical powers, but has lacked this skills to hone them for generations. Zervik and his fathers hope, is that his gifts, a strange connection with nature, will give him and his people a edge in the unknown danger edging closer to the village.
