A seed was planted in my chest

And I unwillingly watered it each day

Roots splintered my lungs

Branches stiffened my limbs

Bark spread across my skin

Until one day I couldn’t cry

That day the wind shook me

And leaves fell from my hair

That I couldn’t feel

Into a tree I grew
