A Broken Promise

“I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the lying and the cheating. I’m tired of you ignoring me.” Said Hillary. Fresh tears fell down her cheeks. Her hands were shaking terribly.

“I know you love her!” Hillary screeched.

“Just tell me you love her. It will make leaving easier.” She said, looking defeated.

“I don’t know what you mean?” Said Mathew defensively on the other side of the room.

“You’ve always been a terrible liar Matt. Just admit it. I saw you with Catherine yesterday. I know you don’t love me anymore.” Catherine explained, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.

“What are you talking about? Catherine and I are just friends.” Mathew replied. He tried to sound convincing, but he knew his face was starting to redden.

“Remember that night I promised you I would never leave you, I’d be there for you?”

Asked Matt.

“I do remember that Matt, but you broke that promise a long time ago.” Said Catherine tearfully, then she walked out the door.
