Today’s the day

It’s finally here

She’s on her way

I get to see her

I can hardly believe

Recalling her

In anticipation

Blond hair

Blue eyes

I think so anyway

Today’s the day

I’ll finally see her face

Instead of just

Hearing her voice

On the phone

Reading the book aloud

Alternating paragraphs

Like in a classroom

But unlike that

It’s actually enjoyable

Because it’s me

Is an upgrade

As I run outside to greet

The one I’ve waited

So long to see

Brown hair

Blue eyes

Not as I remembered

But close enough

That I’m pretty sure

It’s really her
