Write a scene where a character is experiencing either elation or relief.

Try to describe not just happiness and comfort, but the full potency of elation or relief. How do people realistically act when they are experiencing these emotions?

They hated how she dressed How she looked How she talked They hated her actions Her movements They hated how she walked But most of all They hated how they called them 'her' Swallowed by the world about Self hatred in the mirror Just wishing to get out The day came For them to escape The darkness that surrounds Only to find A loving world Like a new playground All along it was their mind Reaching for the worst A relief of sadness overflows Regretful tears at first Then overcome by euphoria The joyfulness arrives A feeling unlike dysmorphia Surprised that they will thrive

This poem really hit home, you did a great job at surprising me, as I didn’t expect it to be about a non-binary person. Great job :)

This poem can be interpreted in many ways just as any other piece of writing. However, I personally wrote it to have two possible interpretations. This is made to be a story about a closeted non-binary person. They were raised to refer to themself as "she" and so does the rest of the world. I hope to have expressed the feeling of relief, sadness, anger, and euphoria that comes with sharing your true self to the world. This particular case has so much of a more supportive outcome than other many devastating cases. That being said, I wish everyone the best coming out process as possible. Hope you enjoy!
