New York

I came here to escape a past id rather forget,

I waded through the sea of people, their movements trapped me into a strong tide,

pulling and shoving.

I couldn’t escape so I let myself be pulled along. Daylight broke through from above, blinding me, I continued to drift with the current blindly up a slope to the surface.

I finally broke free, a stone maze towered above me, loud horns stirred me out of my daze and vertigo, stumbling I looked to the flashes of bleached yellow broke the grey slate of scenery enveloping me.

I took a step forward, giving myself to the current again, allowing myself to be free in this concrete jungle.
