Dorthy And The Goldfish

Today was Dorthy first field trip to the Aquarium but she didn’t seem as excited as everyone else. Before everyone was excused, Ms. Reyes had went over the rules.

“Alright class! There is no running in this facility and stick to your assigned groups. But if you don’t want to explore your more than welcome to sit next to me”.

When they got excused the kids scattered throughout the halls like a shotgun. Dorthy had gotten startled by Ms. Reyes shouting at the kids, as every other person visiting the park, “Stay with your groups!”

Dorthy had looked for an open seat in the middle of the hall.

“Dorthy, don’t you wanna take a walk around, I’m sure it’ll be fun,” Ms. Reyes said with a smile.

“I’m fine sitting here if you don’t mind,” Dorthy had plopped down on a padded bench in the middle.

“Do you mind if I hangout near you?” Ms. Reyes had walked over after sending the last group out.

“Sure,” Dorthy had scooted over to allowing Ms.Reyes to sit down.

A couple minutes passed by as she looks up across the room. There was a gold fish staring at her. However, Dorthy noticed that this particular goldfish was bigger than the rest- and it’s colors were more vibrant than the others . Curiously, she got up from the bench and slowly made her way towards the window.

“Hello there mister fishy,” she said in a singsong voice.

In return the gold fish swam in a circle and return to Dorthy. To her surprise it’s as if the gold fish was responding to her.

“Can you understand me?” She asked.

Once again it had swam in circle. Dorthy started to giggle, “would you like to be my friend?” The goldfish had spun around once more. Dorthy had talked to the goldfish until Ms. Reyes had called all the group leaders back towards the center.

“Will I be able to see you again mister fishy?”

The gold fish had spun more than twice this time, putting a smile on Dorthy face.

“I have to go- but I’ll be sure to visit you again,” Dorthy had put her hand up to the glass and in return the goldfish moved towards it.

“Dorthy- come on let’s go!” Ms. Reyes had waved over to her.

She removed her hand and ran back to where they were lining up.
