Who Do You Think You Are?

No one waited.

Just stood, as if stuck

Rooted to the spot.

Feet thundered the ground.

Thousands, beating a drum of rebellion.

Silent, but heard by many.

Black dogs followed,

Tails tucked, ears low.

Noticed by none, but there all the time.

The darkness loomed.

Obscured the sun like a blanket.

Smothering all light.

The ringing in my ears.

Ten thousand voices,

Ten thousand screams,

But no one saw.

No one heard.

No one cared.

No one saw what they did to me.

Clawing at my mind.

More voices

More screams.

It’s nothing.
