POEM STARTER

Submitted by HardCoreWriter

‘If desires are a flame, then I am a wildfire.’

Use this line to inspire a poem or short story.

Hotwind

If desires are a flame, then I am a wildfire

Making black of anything I touch

It hisses, I yell, with a heat

That melts the sweat off of my skin

A drive

A white knuckled, unshakable want

To weaken myself to what I want to quit

That burns my back when I look away from it

A moment of silent indecision

A full volume distraction

A guilty reminder of why I shouldn’t

If desire is a flame

I am a forest

That can’t get enough water

To regrow

From the fire

Whose embers are still red

And resting on the ground
