Leaving In Harmony

Many who see me see me as a perfect, unflawed young woman. I’m smart, I look pretty, and I have a good boyfriend. But they don’t know the best part about me. I can sing. Perfectly on pitch, from a low G to a high G. I loved it. I was in choir my whole life, not worrying about a thing. Then, I tried out for America’s Got Talent. I won. They said I was the best they had seen in years. I had a chance to fulfill my dreams, to travel the world. But it meant one thing. Leaving my family behind, saying goodbye. I was not ready yet, and I had only just finished college. But it was a way to pay off my student loans, and my father’s debt. And I loved my family so much. So I did it. Not for me, for the money. I told my family I was leaving the next month, since I was given six to decide. My mother and father congratulated me, and wished me for the best. I kissed my younger brother goodbye, since he was flying out to Rome to continue his studies. I told him that we may meet again in Rome. We teare up at the thought. I said goodbye to my friends and peers, and gave them all my best wishes. Then, when the time came, I left. I left and didn’t look back. I had 23 hours of straight flying on a plane. I taped my pictures on the back of the seat in front of me and stared. I started crying. There was no one next to me, since I was in first class flying to Europe. The flight seemed to last forever, and when I arrived, I started my new career in stardom, and I never looked back. And I never, ever forgot my family.
