The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden Of Memory
A memory is a blessing,
A moment in disguise,
Each thought a passing moment,
Right between your eyes.
It is a solemn escape,
The darkness in the light,
But that was what I said,
Before one kept me up at night.
Your words were like a dagger,
Sharp, smooth and cold,
For when I wished to have your heart,
It was no longer mine to hold.
You became distant,
A burden in my mind,
A cut that always bled,
The one I had yet to find.
I searched for you once more,
In hopes youβd taken back what you told,
But like I said before,
Your heart was no longer mine to hold.
You were the heavy weight in my chest,
What woke me from my reverie,
To sleep I must tell myself,
You were just a burden in my memory.
