Where The Water Whispers And The Wood Whimpers

He stood tall and proud on the edge of the docks. Edward brushed back his jet black hair “it’s exactly the same,”

His wife, Raven, hung from his arm like a handbag “what is?”

“Everything,” he replied “if all the same as when I was little,” his eyes scanned the water. It was beautiful. The sunset glow bounced off the water. The water let out a short whisper and the wood, under foot, whimpered and creaked.

Raven turned and walked towards the cabin “don’t stay out to late,” she whispered before closing the door. Edward starred out at the water. The water was nearly as green as his eyes. Slowly and cautiously he crouched and extended his hand. His fingers grazed the waters surface . It was cold, lifeless. Edward turned to and began for the cabin. He heard the sound of a rapid tapping. Swiftly he turned to see a grey squirrel crouched in the fence holding a large nut. He placed his hand on the doorknob. He twisted it and the door swung open.

He paced calmly through the cabin before he placed his hand on the bedroom door. Pushing it open he spotted the walls plastered with a dense red liquid. Atop the bed was a mangled and chewed corpse with. From her neck hung a silver pendant ‘Raven.’ Edward cupped his mouth witch morphed into a contorted O. His eyes opened wide and tears streamed down like waterfalls.

Hunched over the corpse of his wife was a tall Grey beasts with slim bony limbs and long hanging fingers tipped with straight, pointed claws. It’s large humanoid head turned to stare at Edward. It alike Ravens body had swollen, milky white eyes. “m-, m-, Monster!” Edward yelled.

The creature hunched further and walked like a dog closer to him. Edward frozen with fear could not move no matter how much he wanted to, no matter how much he tried to. The creature stood tall and extended one finger towards him “m-, m-, Monster?” It said cocking it head. In a sharp, harsh manner it grabbed at Edward. Edward fell back and the creature swiped once more. The creature hunched again and slowly paced closer. Edward shuffled backwards until his back pressed up against the all.

The creatures long tangling fingers grabbed his ankle and pulled him in closer. As it came in closer it’s large mouth opened wide. Its war, breath touched his skin. At that very moment Edward knew it was all over.
