Aphrodite tortures me

When I collapsed

On my knees at her altar

Offered her all my gold

And pleaded for her divine power

This isn’t what I asked for

I did not want the turmoil

Of a choice

I wanted to be loved again

Yet here I am, watching my two best friends

Turn from companions to sudden rivals

Ravaging each other with hatred

Ripping at tendons and bones with frustration

Killling each other with insults

With my prize of my heart as their end goal

I cannot do anything other than watch

Like a damsel

While Aphrodite does nothing other than watch

Like a goddess
