A difficult task
Harry’s mornings stuck to a strict routine. Breakfast was served for 6 AM, a shower followed shortly before his two hour commute to work. This was no ordinary day though. As Harry looked through his closet, he was unsure what clothes to wear today.
“I need to present myself well, today is the biggest day of your life” he proudly thought to himself. As he moved towards the door he knew that today would define the legacy he was to leave behind. The traffic on that cold Tuesday morning presented many obstacles. Firstly, the bus was late, which resulted in Harry missing his connecting train. “No, no, no. Please not today” echoed through his mind.
He arrived in work, an hour late. “You certainly have not helped yourself today, Harry” his boss shouted at him. He needed to prepare and realised his notes were left inside his office cabinet. Harry has dreamt of this moment since he arrived at B&T Solicitors, as a young apprentice at the age of 16. Harry’s home life destroyed the image of a happy childhood. His parents were constantly arguing, sometimes resulting in physical altercations. When his dad left when he was 7, the successive men to rest in his mothers chamber treated both Harry and his mum with minimal respect, often choosing to demonstrate their hatred feelings with violence.
This remained in Harry’s mind, as his confidence and self belief began to decay, eating away at every positive thought. “I’ve worked hard to be in this position, a successful career can finally make my family proud”.
