The Hidden Wolf

I see the prey,

Small, weak, astray.

Hunger will not remain at bay,

Wanting to slay,

Waiting and ready to play.

Snow bites the paws,

Digging in my claws.

Wait. Pause.

Drawl drips down jaws.

Stop. Wait to see the flaw.

Bitter words hit my skin.

I laugh, for they think I am thin.

They do not see what is within,

So closed, so narrow, they do not see my kin.

I look in their eyes, displaying a wide grin.

They never see the wild voice,

They think we are timid, afraid to make a choice.

But I will never deafen the rejoice.

As the fangs bite,

Claws smite,

With all my might.

Light,

Or night,

You will never break our fight.
