What did you do?
Everything that I could
To survive childhood
I was seen, not heard
No matter what occurred
I dimmed my light
Avoided the fight
Pretended I wasn’t blue
I just made it through
What did you do?
Partied way too hard
Hid that I was scarred
Overcompensated
Became who I hated
A superficial outcast
With a troubled past
No part of me was true
Yet I persevered through
What did you do?
Found my way, but lost myself
All confidence left on the shelf
No longer living at my worst
Still didn’t quench my thirst
Feeling like a timid lion in the wild
As I never healed my inner child
So now what can I do?
As always, just make it through.
