POEM STARTER

‘Dawn still rises, slowly, stubbornly.’

Write a poem with a consistent structure, concluding with this line. You can choose any style for your poem, but it should be one that employs a consistent structure.

Countenance

The reflection in the mirror is not a pretty one.

Your eyes are saying something that your lips won’t.

You are tired.

You are tired, and it runs so deep within you that you wonder if you have always been this way.

Has it been a decade since you last slept soundly through the night?

I see you, and no, you are not pretty.

To me, you are more.

You are raw, natural, and organic.

The reflection in the mirror tells a continuous story: dawn still rises, slowly, stubbornly.
