Two Worlds Apart
I look around the room. There he was Kaden Caddel; prince of Osterla- soon to be king. I walked up to the table, my heels clacking on the hardwood floor. “Hey” Kaden stands up and pulls my chair back. I stand there baffled a little and sat down once I realized it was for me._ Of course it would be_. “So are you hungry or would you just like to talk?” I look down at the menu, seafood restaurant so sushi, fish, crab, things i hate, things I wish I was allergic to. At least there’s chicken. “We could just talk then order” at first we didn’t know what to say but once I bring up the usual date-like-questions, things were going pretty well, nice I would say.
“So have you though of wanting to be king or is it because you have to?” He sighs and looks down, “it was something I wanted but then I thought about it well and I just don’t want to take over anymore but my father doesn’t want my uncle to rule - but what about you? How’s it like being.. normal?” I chuckle, “what do you mean? I think your world is sooo much cooler than mine. We have lousy presidents and you have the coolest outfits- well at least for the women, the men’s is.. interestingly enough” we both laugh, “well maybe you should just come with me then” he has offered me to go to his tell multiple times. When we first met I was a mess and was about to take up on his offer.
But I have everything I need here, my parents and siblings, my friends, my job, I can’t just drop everything and just leave? And my parents would think I’m missing or worse- dead. My smile drops slightly. “ I’m sorry I shouldn’t have brought it up. I know you have some doubts on things but I can assure you, you will be in great hands. With me.” I smile and grab his hand, “I know but it’s not that, everyone I have here- I just can’t leave them. I know they can’t know about your realm but at least my family has to know
Kaden.” “How about you tell them your moving somewhere far away, knowing that they won’t be able to see you.” “Can’t I just tell them? I promise they won’t say anything to anyone” “you know you can’t it’s too dangerous, I’ve seen how your enemies are, trying to get every information on things they shouldn’t be doing” I scoff, “what do you mean ‘enemies’? The government?” “ yes that!”
He’s right my world would want to get their grubby slimy little hands on something like this. If I don’t tell my family with something, we will have to lose contact with each other. Ever since I met him, I couldn’t stop dreaming about him, everything I did, jestures people would for me like open doors and simple things that he does. “Well I don’t think this is going to work. Us, you clearly have an option to come and live here also but you have to be king, I get that and it’s okay.” I breathed in and smiled, “we don’t have to end-“ I cut him off “no kaden it will never work! We live in two different realms! I will never fit in yours and you’ll never fit in mine, trust me I couldn’t handle it.” He nods and smiles. “If you want to end this then… you have your wish but just know if you ever want to come back and.. here’s this.”
He hands me a beautiful silver bracelet with moons and stars on it, the light hitting the crystal diamonds making it shine. He helps me put it on and sits back down. “You know, if you went with me, you could’ve been my queen, my wife. I know it’s way too fast but if that isn’t what you want then I’ll just want away.”
He has to marry someone, he can’t just be a king with no queen. He has to be married to someone. I have to be fine with that but I can’t right now. “She’ll be lucky to have you, it will hurt but I’m always here for you Kaden.” I stand up, fidgeting the bracelet, “press this button three times and a portal should open, whenever you can, come and visit.” He stands up and hugs me for a while. Or maybe I did. I held onto him until I let go, tears running down my cheeks. “Goodbye Kaden.” “Goodbye Marigold.”
