POEM STARTER
Compose a poem that starts with an idiom.
Idioms are common, sometimes metaphorical sayings such as ‘it’s raining cats and dogs’, and ‘love at first sight’. Which idiom will you use to set the theme for your poem?
Understanding
Which way is the wind blowing
How is this wind showing
As it softly whispers in your ear
Talking about places far and near
Listen closely to the winds sweet song
Guiding your thoughts to where they belong
The wind changes its course
Shifting direction with such force
Natures ever changing ways
Seeing us through every day
Embrace the unpredictable flow
But beware of the gusts that blow
The wind whispers secrets clear and true
Revealing a path you could choose
Be mindful watchful and wise
Read the signs in the winds cries
Trust your instinct and inner voice
To make a choice for you to rejoice
Remember in the end it’s your call
Just listen to the options big and small
You may follow where the wind might lead
But it’s up to you to trust and take heed.
