POEM STARTER
Write a poem about a curse, evil, or malintent.
An atmosphere of wickedness is a rarer theme in poetry. Have a go at creating a menacing tone in your poem.
The Cat And Goat
I’ve seen her strolling down the woodland path
No care in the world no love in her eyes
A liar she is with her family and friends
The only one who sees like I is the black cat calling me Elend
I bite my thumb till bloody and raw
She has stolen from the baker, craftsman and shopowner again
A thief she is such a wretched beast
Only the goat bleats saying indeed
The third month now in the winters of June
I see her in the moore, chewing up the fig pie she is unaware of what I laced
The cat hisses and the goat maa
With glee and cheer I curse the dreadful dear
She looks up with questions then turns a deep blue
Throwing and yelling at me
Horrid, mean, malicious and green
Compared to her Snow White innocence like that of a sheep
I do not care as she’s sullied herself, hands pink and pricked from poison ivy
A curse I yell
A curse she cried
And left her alone we did
Not turning back as I sat with the cat and goat as we flee
