Guess Genes
Crazy that individuality is irony;
A collection of things
That, when combined,
Always make someone different;
Though, none of those ‘things’
Are unique.
Genetically, individuality is merely
A math problem:
Calculations, statistics, probability.
The you that is You is possible
Chiefly because of the possible combinations
To pull from—
Combinations that are at once probable
And Improbable; You
Couldn’t be anything else; you
Are the only You that will ever be
That’s bananas!
That’s what it is!
Crazy-talk! Hokum! Except, it’s true.
The very thing that makes you You is
The combination of four enzymes
Acid, deoxyribonucleic acid:
Cytosine,
Guanine,
Adenine,
Thymine.
Those, combined together,
Create enough variation—
Through pairing rules,
Glued by hydrogen bonds—
That there cannot be
Another you… math headaches!
Consider, you are the
Confluence of
Genetic
Code—
Given from
Ancestor
To Ancestor
To Ancestor—
Then to you.
That seemingly simple
Combination of
Twenty three pairs of
G. A.
T. C.
