Chasing

Run after her.

Stop her at the door.

Fumble with her emotions.

That’s right, lay them out.

All on the table, what do you see?

She loves you, she loves you not.

Dandelions dance on the breeze.

Emotions swirl in the wind.

Count to ten and start again.

She loves you, she loves you not.

*One, two, three…*

Grab ahold of the surface.

Dance along the edges.

Take the blade.

Shove it deep.

*Four, five, six…*

Does this hurt?

Poke and prod.

Grab ahold and shake.

Does she feel it?

Does she hurt?

Does she bleed?

Don’t we all?

*Seven, eight, nine…*

Chase her down in her mind.

Through the corridor.

Out of the window.

Down and around,

Until you’re back again.

Hit the wall, scream and cry.

Hear her beg to be let go.

She loves you, she loves you not.

*Ten…*

Kill her emotions.

Kill her pride.

Drown her joy.

And rip her smile.

She only wanted it to be you.

That’s the chase, right?
