POEM STARTER
‘Leaving room for errors always seems wise, until there are mistakes sleeping on every sofa in your house.’
Write a poem that begins with this line.
Distant Daydream
I’ve always been worried about my mistakes…but then everything changed. I was walking home from the library when I realized I had about 20 books overdue. “Oh, no!” I cried. I walked faster, in a bit of a panic. “Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no…” As I stepped inside of my house I could’ve sworn I heard a voice…but probably not. I’m hearing things a lot. _It’s just my imagination. _I thought. When I woke up the next morning, I stepped into my kitchen to see a big, black, cloud with piercing red eyes tearing up my library books. “Oh, crap!” I shouted, then realized my mistake as the cloud slowly looked up at me. “Uh, hi..?” I said, slowly waving. “W-Who are you..?” I blurted, trying to seem brave. It floated up to my face. “I am…your mistakes…” It whispered. “Wha…?” I murmured.
I continued my day…but no matter how hard I tried to keep everything normal, it wasn’t. “It’s as if everything ordinary is just a distant daydream…” I whispered as I walked to the coffee shop. “How can I help you?” The employee girl asked. “Um…I’d like a-“ I stopped as I looked up to see that the girl had no face. Everything turned black except for me and her.
“Hello, human. I am your fear.” She said, rather blankly. “Help me! Someone!” I cried.
