POEM STARTER
'Backwards'
Use this single word to inspire a poem.
Backwards
If you suppose I always go
Up the river heave and ho
Against the current, up the flow,
Backwards
I used to know just what to do
And what was what, and who was who,
That was before I came unglued,
Backwards
You thought that I was just a child
And yet a look, and yet a smile
Left alone to weep and while
Backwards
You left me there and went ahead
Left me unshod left me undead
My little heart all full of dread
Backwards
And I suppose that’s where I’ll stay
The who I was all locked away
Looking forward to yesterday,
Backwards
