Star Crossed And Broken
NOTE: This is not a developed story, just a short look into a scenario like this. Enjoy! And please leave a like or feedback <3
I was five years old when the stars disappeared from the sky. The ways of my kingdom forever changed, the lights in the sky becoming darker as we spoke. But I never knew any different.
Fourteen years later, and I never would have thought I’d be surrounded by someone, but feel so incredibly alone. I’d never thought I’d be so worthy to have someone hold my gaze, yet here we were.
Despite being next to the one person that felt like home, I knew I was far, far away. After all, home was across another kingdom, across the kingdom we constantly fought, across the kingdom I was forbidden to enter.
But then, I met _him_.
We’ve sat on the roof for who knows how long, doing nothing more than sharing our deepest secrets and fears, and watching the stars. As each shooting star came by, burning with passion, we burned for eachother. Wishing fate was different. Wishing we could change the way the stars had written our lives.
He tells me about the things his father has said about my kingdom. I tell him the things my father has said about his. This will never work out. Our ways are too different, and despite how unfair it is, the hundreds of people who distace themselves from each other have also somehow distanced us. But we could never admit it.
When the first attack came, we fled. Hid, practically. Ran to his kingdom. It was stronger.
And then, attacks came back, and we became stuck in the astronomy tower. It’s been two weeks. And now, we sit on the roof, watching the destruction below.
“Do you think it’ll ever stop?” He whispers numbly.
All I can do is sigh. “No.”
“Why does it have to be this w-“ He stops. And we both realize why. The tower is collapsing. The doing of my kingdom.
Time slows. Is this really it?
“In another life?” He asks.
Tears spill down my eyes, in realization of what he means. “In another life,” I promise.
And with each passing explosion outside, we knew that wherever we were to go next, we would meet the same fate. The stars were forever gone, but for some reason, our fate would forever be etched into them, written against us, separating us until we met again in another time, another world, another life. The stars hated us. Punished us.
Sparks fly like they did when we first met. “Goodbye,” I cry softly into his ear.
“Goodbye, darling. See you in another life.” His tone is odd, but it must be. After all, we’re about to die.
My life is about to end. But not because we’re falling. A cool dagger is now pressed to my neck. I look up. It’s his hand that’s grasping the handle tightly as the sound of sobs fill my ringing ears.
A tear rolls down his cheek as he gazes at me one last time. “I’m sorry, princess. Goodbye.”
All I can do is stare. Hot blood spills from my neck. The tower crashes down.
And at last, our worlds collide, darkness swallows us. And for the first time, we meet in the same world. But we will forever be alone.
Looking for any feedback! Mostly on just my writing style and pace. Along with creativity. I wrote this quite quickly for fun, enjoy!!
