She lays in the grass closing her eyes. The sun beats down on her face. She smiles. She has her AirPods in. I want to go talk to her but she looks so happy. Like she can get away from all her troubles and worries. She looks peaceful. I watch her lay there in the grass. I want that peace and happiness. Eventually she falls asleep and I’m still watching her. When she wakes up, she grabs her phone she presses something then gets up. She starts mouthing the words to her song. It’s like she’s acting it out. She runs around and sings her favorite parts of the song. She shows whatever emotions are in her song. She angry then sad then both at the same time. After awhile she picks up her stuff and starts to leave. I call out to her, she looks startled. “Where are you going,” I say. She looks up at me. “Home?” She says clearly thinking it’s weird that I’m here. “I’ve been here watching you. And I think it’s beautiful how you can be so happy and content just listening to music in the grass,” I say. “So you’ve been watching me from that tree for hours?” She says accusingly. “Um. Yea,” a pause. “You should come back here some time, I’ll be here. I just live at the house at the top of the hill,” I say. “ Yea, I will” she says.
