The Horror
It was blinding, I had to shield my eyes against the intense glare before it damaged them. I turned my head away and instinctively put my hand out to protect me. What good that would do, I thought, if I can’t see . The scream has worsened before dying off and now all I could was silence.
The bright light subsided, I could see that even through my eyelids. I tentatively opened my eyes, testing against more light, but the glare was gone. I rubbed my eyes in an attempt to rid the, of those black spots that danced around your vision.
And then I heard the crunching, the unmistakable crunch of leaves under heavy feet. I spun around trying to locate the source and at first could see nothing through the thick trees and foliage until the shadow was almost upon me.
The shadow stepped into the light and I screamed till my lungs burst. The horror! The horror! The shadow was RYAN LINDSEY!!
