POEM STARTER
'It’s impossibly ugly this sweater, but I wear it each week, no matter the weather.'
Use this line as inspiration for a poem.
Sweater Weather
It’s impossibly ugly
The sweater
But I wear it each week
No matter the weather
Pilly fabric
Seams hidden
Not so well
Turtleneck which
Might
Or
Might not
Suit me
And bell sleeves
Which definitely don’t.
Slightly too short to be practical
Slightly too loose for comfort
Slightly too warm
Yet somehow too thin
Yet I wear it day in
And I wear it day out.
And however it flatters me
Or however it doesn’t
I can’t help
But return
It to
Its rightful place
Among my clothes
Because however lovely
Some may be
Few can claim
Few can claim to be as soft
As [obligatory it’s just begging for ‘he’ or ‘thee’ to match ‘be’ but I’m not about to fix everything else to do it!] it
