Eyes Open

Poetry

Euphoric sleep,

Eyes open,

Everglades welcome

Me with open arms,

Daydream against blue

Skies, cloudless as my

Mind’s open fields

Where I escape

Fast-moving, delirious

Life, filled with

Worries and sorrow.

Escape with eyes closed

Any moment of the day,

But when I find euphoric

Sleep, dreaming with eyes

Wide open,

I am a bird gliding

Above mountain ranges,

Free and alive.
