Write a poem or short story from the perspective of royalty, which focuses on a specific topic of your choice.
It could be real royalty or a fantasy world, but try to imagine how they would feel differently about your chosen theme due to their position.
The Royal Pawn
Three left, two right, as if I were made a knight.
Eyes right, head high, oh how I wish to die.
To fly away, just today, leaving the pain that I made.
Yet here I stand, and here I stay, just to make it all okay.
Or so I thought, that is why I fought, the existential dread.
Of how my wife may return, of how the pain burns, worse then a flame.
The cut of the whip, the place where it hits, splattering red.
The laugh that leaves, the blood that bleeds,
Only one coming from me.
