POEM STARTER

Mortality
Write a poem with a structured rhyme scheme, which focuses on the theme of mortality.
Anew
When someone is born into the world,
A joyous occasion is gently unfurled.
For the family now blessed with more,
And the kind souls who open the doors.
As children grow and take their flight,
Family is there, a steady light.
They lend a hand when struggles appear,
And comfort when sadness draws near.
But as they age, they soon must see,
That leaving the nest is part of the plea.
The homes they’ve known for all of their years,
To start anew, facing their fears.
When they have families of their own,
They nurture and guide, love brightly shown.
Until they too must leave the nest,
As their parents did, to do their best.
Now, as they age and hair turns gray,
They smile with joy, but know the way.
That soon they too will leave the earth,
But love remains, revealing its worth.
So, as time flows and children roam,
The world moves on, and life goes home.
For love and family, fleeting yet true,
In time’s enbrace, we’re born anew.
