My Suspicious Mind

“We’re caught in a trap,” that’s what Elvis said. But I can’t get your suspicious words out of my head. For you said you went to work but you went somewhere else instead. I do not know just where you went, but I heard you didn’t go to work Somebody said you were at a club doing some dance called the twerk Another person said that you were hanging out with some big jerk. I suppose that all my suspicions are due to the rumors in the air And people telling me I should live my life like the devil may care Those telling me to go to the club and meet some woman there. But then again, what cause have I, to have suspicious thinking? The people who said they saw you had all been together drinking. And they’re the ones who benefit from my attitude that’s stinking. For though you said you went to work and went to another place I remembered that you run at lunchtime to prepare for your big race Besides, the evidence is hearsay, if I was to try and make a case. The clearer evidence is before me in the years that we have spent Your character is rock solid, yes to me, you were heaven sent I cannot believe I was so suspicious that my nose it got all bent. So when you return from work and running ‘round the town I’ll be there to give you spa treatment, a thorough rub down With an apology for my suspicions that you were running ‘round. I intend to break Elvis’s record about having a suspicious mind I have never thought about it, but I am not the suspicious kind For I am yours forever and I know you are forever mine.
