I hadn’t meant to find myself here. In fact it was the last place on earth I wanted to be. Staring at myself in the reflection of the pool I wondered. what step did i take to lead me down this road? what mistake brought me to this?

“do you know what this place is” amy whispered.

I nod my head but say nothing. To speak in this place feels wrong. The place where the world’s secrets hide. Where the beginning and end of all things originate.

amy opens her mouth to speak again and i cover it with my hand.

i slowly back away from the edge of the water motioning for her to follow. when we reach a distance i’ve deemed far enough i turn to her.

“do not tell anyone what you’ve seen tonight. if you do they will deem you mad and lock you up” i stare her directly in the eye. “you take this to the grave amy. we both do.”
