Don’t take meat from strangers
“What’s that?” A inquisitive little boy asked her. Smiling at him, she replied innocently,
“Nothing. You wouldn’t like it. Now run along and play with your toys, like a good little boy.” Patting her mouth with a nearby napkin, she motioned for him to leave.
“It looks tasty!” The little boy said as he reached out his fingers, hoping for a bite.
“Oh it is, but I’m not sure you would like it. You see, it’s for big boys and girls.” She taunted him, knowing it would only antagonise him more.
“But I am a big boy!” He protested, still lunging for the meat. The woman chuckled and ripped a corner off to give to him.
“Oh alright, try this.” He practically jumped onto the seat next to her and began tearing his teeth into the tough meat as though he were a rabid animal.
“You like that, do you?” The little boy nodded enthusiastically. “There’s more just down that road. What’s your name?” She asked, getting down to his level.
“Luke!” He smiled, finally seeing her eyes. He thought they were the coolest eyes he ever saw, dark scarlet, almost like blood.
“Well Luke, why don’t you come with me and you can have some more?”
“Mummy said not to go with strangers...” He replied, taking a step back. She took an even bigger one forward.
“Well I’m Klara Mauerova. So now we aren’t strangers anymore!” She sang, leading him into an alleyway. It was only then Luke noticed a picture hanging up on the wall of a woman who looked strangely like Klara. In fact, almost identically.
“Klara, is that you?” He questioned, moving toward the slightly crumpled picture.
“No. Now come along, you’re going to love the meal I’ll prepare for you.”
She sighed, wondering what part of him she should cook first.
