HONEY, WE JUST GOT A CALL FROM JIMMY’S SCHOOL. THEY WANT US
TO COME IN SOMEDAY THIS WEEK, PREFERABLY DURING THE DAY, WHILE
JIMMY IS THERE.
WELL, OK. HOW ABOUT WEDNESDAY, DURING MY LUNCH HOUR?
SOUNDS PERFECT. SEE YOU WHEN YOU GET HOME TONIGHT, HONEY.
👍🏻
On Wednesday Jim and Chloe pulled into the school parking lot at the same time and parked right next to each other. After getting out of the car, Jim put his arm around Chloe and they made their way to the school.
“So,” Jim asked, “Have you ever been called into the Principal’s office before? Ha Ha!”
“What? Do you think we’re in trouble? No way! I’ve been thinking that they want to accelerate Jimmy’s schooling. Like, maybe, have him skip from the nursery directly into Kindergarten. He has always been ahead of other kids his own age, you know.”
“Hmm, maybe you’re right,” Jim said, “I just figured that Jimmy’s a lot like me and I sure saw my fair share of Principal’s offices while growing up. But I am so relieved now. I really thought we were in some kind of trouble. I wonder what he’s been doing in school? How far ahead of the other kids do you think he is? Do you think he’s reading and writing yet? Oh my gosh, I’m just so proud of our little guy!”
“I know!” Chloe beamed, “Just think how this will look on his school transcript someday! Our little Jimmy, skipped right into Kindergarten. He’ll get to go to the best schools. YES! This makes me SO HAPPY!”
“Well, here we are,” Jim said, opening the door for Chloe. “After you m’lady.”
As they entered the school the school Principal was waiting for them. “Hi, thanks for coming in, its perfect timing. Come with me.”
Jim and Chloe beamed at each, as if to say, “Oh boy, lets go and see what our little genius is up to.”
The Principal brought them to the a one way window outside of Jimmy’s class room. He pointed toward the window, smiled, and said, “Right here, have a look.”
Jim and Chloe were trembling with excitement as they approached the window. But inside of the classroom they saw all of the children crying and cowering against the walls of the room. The two teachers were huddled in a corner, whispering with their hands covering their mouths. And in the center of the room, stripped down to just his undies was Jimmy. He was stomping around the room, like a miniature sumo wrestler, wreaking havoc on every truck, every dolly, and every castle or tower of blocks made by the other kids. The tiny, fleshy whirlwind, demolished everything in his site. Finally after all of his destruction he strutted to the center of the room and flexed his arms in front of himself like a pro wrestler and screamed at the top of his lungs, “JIMMY IS DA BLOCK BUSTER!”
Jim and Chloe slowly and quietly walked across the parking lot. As they reached their cars, Jim looked up at Chloe, “Yep, I was right, he’s just like me after all.”
