Warm Bodies

He held his hands in his own.

His oversized hoodies wrapping him up, the warmth covering him up like a blanket.

It wasn’t greater than his blanket of love for him though.

His blue eyes stared into his green emerald eyes. They both looked into each other, staring at each other’s souls. The very reflection of them bouncing back in the eyes of their lover.

As they got closer, the clock ticked slower and slower, each second feeling like an hour. The hands on the clock inched every hour, one would think it was broken.

Soon, everything froze cold, like a fragile lake at winter. Icicles on blue leaves of trees, the beautiful arctic sparkling from the ice. It was delicate and heavenly, a feeling that was rarely felt. But, nonetheless, it was all frozen in time.

Everything except the two and the battle they fought.

The trees stood motionless in the cold air, the birds were quiet against the harsh winter, the snowy ground became thicker like maple syrup as the snow blew faster and harder.

All they can do was be grateful for the time they had, for the time that was probably bigger than others’. For the time they had together, for the chance of meeting each other.

They held hands, gripping each other until their skin was as white as the snow. The feelings of warmth took over their feelings of guilt. The guilt that they got them into this mess. That feeling slowly died away as the two grew the fire in their hearts. Their soul practically their own, all they felt was the undying love of each other.

The wind’s cries was heard, and it took it’s revenge on the world. The air wailed, the scent of ice and vanilla filled the air.

The two closed their eyes, the snow burying them completely. The last thing they saw was each other, the last thing they felt was each other. The last thing the snow swallowed whole was two people questioning their existence until they found each other.

After the rescue team found the two bodies in the snow, they were surprised. Every other dead body was cold. Not theirs.

Theirs was warm.
