“BE GONE YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING!” He screamed. I winced at the level of noise he was making with his shouts. I was sure the whole office could hear our conversation and my cheeks burned red with humiliation.

“Look, I’m sorry about the inconvenience this has caused but I’m sure you would agree that by loosing me, many significant assets I provide are much needed in terms of success would just be-“

He cut me off with an exxagerated cough and look of hot impatience, completely disregarding my attempt for a conversation with a more appropriate tone and meaning. His face bulged and his anger was palpable. He probably understood that I neeeded this job, but also realised if it meant his power could be publicly emphasised the more logical solution, and less humane solution, was to fire me.

He had no mercy in terms of his colleagues.

“I have reminded you to NEVER, EVER turn up to a shift you are not scheduled for. It creates much disorder, which is obvious by just looking at our current situation, and confusion. Think about all the commotion by ignoring regulation. This is not acceptable, especially just walking away after realising it’s not your shift. There are punishments that are supposed to be used against those that break the rules and I’m sorry, but I don’t think you’re innocent in this, are you?”

There was nothing I could say to deflect his insults. I just have to let him blow off steam and then we’ll both be ready for a more rational course of action. I then did something stupid.

“I’m sorry but if your system is so fragile that by turning up for a shift I forgot had been cancelled leads to this than you should really reconsider a few things. You are starting something completely unnecessary all due to the fact this apparatus breaks after some impotent mistake. RIDICULOUS!” It was me that started to raise my voice. He was angering me and sick of his prejudiced actions I bit back.

One last thing that I had to mention.

“I QUIT!” Take that, buddy!
