STORY STARTER
How does Aldrick perceive himself, and what does he think his role is in society, and how does this conflict with his desires
The Breakdown Of A King
Aldrick stared blankly at his reflection, unable to recognize who he was. His eyes remained the same shade, gold, and he still bore his scars.. yet what he saw in the mirror was not a scared boy, yearning for the pain to end, but rather a king. This.. this couldn’t be him. It simply made no sense. He can’t look so composed all the time, so regal, so.. put together. It just doesn’t add up! He- He doesn’t understand- is this a dream? A nightmare perhaps- or maybe some magical personnel is playing a prank- a mere jest- a cruel one at that- Yes- yes if he just breaks the mirror- that will break the illusion- then he can see what he really looks like.
Glass shards embedded themselves into his skin, a sharp shattering noise pierced the air as the floor grew messy once more. Aldrick stared at the empty frame, panting as tears welled in his eyes.. pain. Pain. Pain. Was that all he was destined to feel?! The worst of the worst, to meet all the monsters the world has to offer, and not even being able to find solace in his own looks?! .. He needs help.. but.. who would even bother.. after all **he **was meant to be their king- their leader, their martyr, **their protector. **And yet here he was, complaining about his looks.. get it together Aldrick. They need you. He sighed as he went to get dressed, as if nothing had happened. At least there is one thing to actually look forward to today. After all, who wouldn’t celebrate their son falling in love, even if it was with a guy. Even if he envied him in this moment.
